Madison Towers Hotel, New York, NY
Located at 22 East 38th Street in Manhattan, the Madison Towers Hotel was originally constructed in the 1920s as a young businessman’s hotel. The Madison Towers Hotel was gut-rehabilitated and converted from a 450-room facility into a 300-room, modernized hotel. It was necessary to design around two floors of existing tenancies. We enlarged the guestrooms to market size and added ensuite bathrooms. We also renovated the lobby, bar, retail spaces, and administrative offices, restored the façade to its original quality with some contemporary touches, and rehabilitated the roof, mechanical systems, and exterior windows. The hotel is currently known as the NH Collection New York Madison Avenue, and is a four-star Manhattan hotel.
Governor Morris Hotel, Morristown, NJ
Located near George Washington’s New Jersey battlefields, the Governor Morris Hotel, located in historic Morristown, New Jersey, was designed with the history of the area in mind. The lobby, restaurant, ballroom, and guestrooms all reflect this design approach. We designed all of the interior spaces.
Quatro Rodas Hotels, Salvador, Recife, and San Luis Maranho, Brazil
We designed a group of three hotels in Brazil. At the time, the northeastern area of Brazil was relatively underdeveloped, and the government of Brazil hoped that the introduction of hotels would contribute to the development of the area. After visiting each site on numerous occasions, we designed the hotels at our Queens, New York, office; they were further developed in partnership with local Brazilian architects and engineers. The hotels all have ocean views, and they vary in size from 100 to 200 guestrooms. Each hotel also contains a restaurant, lounge, and recreational facilities.
Governor’s Inn, Raleigh-Durham, NC
Located in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, this business hotel was completely refurbished with a new lobby, lounges, restaurants and rooms to serve the business community of this light industrial business area. Our contribution was the interior design of all the hotel spaces and facilities.
Marriott, Queens, NY
Located at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, this 11-story, 450-room hotel was designed for the convenience of airline passengers. The hotel facilities include conference rooms and business meeting rooms, banquet and program accommodations for 1,200 people, restaurants, a bar lounge, an indoor swimming pool and a health club. The hotel features restaurants, a bar lounge, an indoor swimming pool, a health club, and a 400-vehicle parking garage.
Sheraton, Philadelphia, PA
We refurbished this existing hotel, renovating the lobby and guestrooms, choosing interior furnishings and finishes, and designing a new entrance and restaurant space.
Whitestone Hotel, Whitestone, NY
We developed a design for a hotel with balconies overlooking the East River. Although the hotel was never built, the project received a New York State Design Award. The design in concrete featured a dramatic sawtooth texture that allowed for each guestroom to have river views.
